For The Children’s Sake by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay Review

  • Hands down, this book gets my vote for the best resource when you are considering whether or not to homeschool your children, if you are new to it and looking for guidance, or if you have started, but need a boost and reminder of what education is all about.  This was the book that convicted me to homeschool my own children – nearly 20 years ago – and I have never found a better one to recommend.
  • It is a book about what education can be — for your child, in your home, or in your school.  It is based first on a Christian understanding of what it means to be human – whether a child, parent, or teacher – and on the Christian meaning of life.  At the same time, it is deeply practical and will bless you richly as it offers ways to awaken young minds to give them a new richness, stability, and joy for living.
  • It will teach that all of life is an education to be embraced, give you the enthusiasm and confidence to do it, and offer a firm foundation for years of the most exciting adventure and privilege of your life — that of homeschooling your children.
